Company History

The issue of substance abuse has been a strong concern in Western society for many years and has resulted in an enormous amount of government expenditure, both domestically and internationally to attempt to reduce the problem. Having exited from several successful businesses, Ted Titmus, the founder of Ttest USA, Inc., began looking into the possibility of an early-warning test for parents to identify and help kids with drug problems early on.

He soon learned that there were no tests that were economical and easy-to-use for this purpose. Further research revealed that saliva-based testing was a promising new technology but that products on the market then had serious shortcomings. In discussions with the manufacturers of these products, companies such as OraSure, Alco Range and Roche (Onsite) it became apparent that they could not supply such tests with the improvements he was looking for.

Mr. Titmus engaged several independent laboratories, funded by his personal wealth, to perform research into making saliva tests that were based on existing technology, but that could be easily used by non-skilled people and that would give on-the-spot results that were accurate and reliable. In a series of fortunate coincidences, Mr. Titmus discovered that the standard packaging techniques used by the industry did not adequately support the required robustness of the active ingredients in the tests when used in many on-site environments.

He pursued this discovery and learned that improved packaging design could drastically improve not only the shelf life and temperature sensitivity of the tests, but also would allow completely new formulations to be used. Where the old products were delicate and easily spoiled, Ttest’s new technology allowed scientifically established tests to be distributed to and used by the general public. In the fall of 2008, with his lab research completed and patents issued, Mr. Titmus began assembling a team to deliver his vision to the marketplace. The core management team has been selected and the search for funding has begun.
